Does setting the diamond void the certificate?

No. The report describes the diamond, not the ring. Keep it. A jeweler should not need to alter the stone’s identity to mount it.

US guides

Keep the lab report after a US jeweler sets the diamond

Insurance riders in the US ask for this paperwork.

The US decision

The inscription remains on the girdle if the setter does not polish it off. Ask them not to touch the inscription.

What to verify

If you upgrade later, the report is how the first stone is identified.

What to do next

Photograph the report number into the same folder as the Stripe receipt. Carat Mate ships the certified loose diamond and its lab report to United States addresses. Prices on the site are in USD. Wrong-item returns may be considered within 3 days of delivery, subject to review.
