These are typical face-up sizes for a well-cut round. Your certificate’s measurements are the number that matters for a specific stone.
0.50 ct is about 5.1 mm. 0.70 ct is about 5.7 mm. 1.00 ct is about 6.4–6.5 mm. 1.50 ct is about 7.4 mm. 2.00 ct is about 8.1–8.2 mm. 3.00 ct is about 9.3–9.4 mm.

An oval of the same carat is longer than it is wide, so the length can pass the round’s diameter even when the width is smaller. A 1 carat oval is often about 7.5–8 mm long and about 5.5 mm wide. An emerald cut looks larger in length for the same reason and shows a hall-of-mirrors pattern instead of round sparkle.

On the finger, a 6.5 mm round (about 1 carat) is a common engagement size. A 8 mm round (about 2 carats) reads as a large center on most hands. Setting style changes this: a halo adds outline without adding center-stone carat.
